The name “ATEX“ derives from the French abbreviation for ATmosphères EXplosibles and stands for the ATEX directive of the European Union. This describes what equipment and work environment is allowed in an environment with an explosive atmosphere. The directive includes health and safety requirements and is therefore the most important precaution for the protection of workers and machinery in explosive areas.
